Spring Break MANIA!!!!

Last week was our spring break and what a spring break it was. It began with our tiny Lydia's 6th birthday. I still can't believe she is six! She is such a petite little thing and is much smaller than the other kids her age. Here she is, proud as can be, posing in her birthday shirt.
To start of her big day, she chose berry french toast for breakfast. This is a family favorite for sure.
We decided to spend the day outside because that is where Lydia loves to be.
Katie was really turning on the charm for the camera. I wish she had been this cooperative for her baptism photo shoot with Katherine. (pictures in the next post.)
Jake is getting really big for the playground equipment at the park. He is getting to be so grown up. He spent the whole spring break reading the first two books in the Hunger Games series. I wasn't going to let him read them. I thought that he would be scared. He assured me that he was NOT a baby and would not be scared. "I know it's not real mom."
It was a beautiful day but really, really windy!

We were trying to decide where to go for lunch to celebrate the birthday girls. (Katie's birthday is just 6 days after Lydia's.) We really lucked out when Lydia and Katie agreed on Cafe Rio. Lydia ordered her OWN soup.
Katie wanted her OWN salad. She ate the whole thing.
Jake ate 3 cheese quesadillas and whatever was left on everyone's plates. We had a great time celebrating with our crazy Lydia. She sure does keep things interesting around here.
With the kids out of school it is my job to plan a few outings so that the kids don't scratch each others eyes out. We planned a morning to Red Butte Gardens. It was a beautiful spring day and there were quite a few flowers to enjoy.
The girls just want to play in the sand.

Maggie and Jake were not quite as content to just sit and enjoy the sand box.
We are in training for our big trip to San Diego in August.




Lydia chose a beach party theme for her birthday party. This is a bit of a tough order to fill in April in Salt Lake. The weather is very unpredictable. We watched the weather and picked the warmest day of the week for her beach party. We filled the sand box with fresh sand and Katie and Lydia got a new pool for their birthday. We blew up beach balls, had yummy drinks with umbrellas and cupcakes. It was a pretty warm day...but not quite warm enough for swimming and swim suits.

Lydia was thrilled with her party and enjoyed spending the afternoon with her cute friends.
The next day was Katie's big day. She turned 8 on April 5th. Here she is sporting her birthday shirt.
Katie got a salon chair for Emily and a bunch of beauty equipment. She couldn't have been happier.
She chose chocolate chip pancakes for her birthday breakfast.
She got a really cook messenger bag that you get to decorate yourself. It was a big hit and is now ehr school bag.
Katie and Lydia spent the morning doing their dolls hair over and over and over again.
That afternoon Katie had her friends over for a party with the friends and all of their dolls.
She got lots of nice gifts.
These are the cute party goers. The made party hats for themselves and their dolls. They turned out really cute. The next day was a scramble to clean the house and get ready for the weekend festivities. Katie is getting baptized on Saturday and we are feeding the family.

Next year we are just having a family party and going to St. George/Cedar City for spring break. This year it was too much work. Good thing I love these girls.
