Snowy Day

Monday it snowed and snowed and snowed. Jake was out of school and we were so glad that we didn't have to drive anywhere. We shoveled in the morning so that Aaron could get out to go to work and the kids and I shoveled again in the late afternoon so that Aaron could get back in. This was our first big snow in SLC. The kids have been dying to go out and play in the yucky, crunchy, dirty snow. With fresh new snow we could hardly resist. Jake has played in the snow and school so he was a little more familiar with the cold. Katie had a good time until she realized she was cold and then it wasn't fun anymore. Lydia was so fat and round in all of her hand-me-down snow gear (from Jake when we lived in Idaho) that she couldn't stay standing. She tripped and fell and rolled around in the snow. It didn't seem to bother her at all.

On Wed. we went to IKEA with Aunt Lisa and baby Emma. We had a very serious loss. Katie tucked her baby somewhere in out travels and lost her in that huge warehouse. I left our phone number with the customer service desk and they will call if they find her. Katie has been trying out all of the other dolls at our house to see if she likes them or not. She drags them around for a little while and then discards them. I sure hope they can find our baby.

Tomorrow we are heading south. We can't wait to see everyone.

Cute pictures. I was crushed when I saw the one of Katie crying due to the cold.

Our first winter here the kids snuck out to meet Dad (who was just getting home from work) in the snow without jackets or shoes. It was a mystery to them why they were freezing after a minute or two. I guess that is what comes of being born in St. George. Luckily, they have it mostly figured out. Some day they will figure out it's more important to be warm than to look cool, and they will wear their big coats to the bus stop.
