On Friday night we got a very exciting phone call from Daniel and Rosalyn announcing the Animal Planet Wild Animal Expo to be held in a park near us. It is one of our favorite parks and we knew that even if the expo was a bust we could enjoy the water park and wading pool. Dan, Rosalyn and kids arrived at about 9:30 and we were at the park by shortly after 10:00. It was really, really warm out. The expo was huge and there were lots of attractions for the kids. It was probably geared more to kids Jakes age than the younger children but there were fun things for all.

One of the favorite attractions was this bouncy house. Our kids had it almost to themselves. They got to go in a few times. I liked that they seperated the big kids from the little ones so that our babies didn't get tossed around near as much as they would have with older kids jumping.

Andrew, Lydia and Katie had so much fun jumping, laughing and playing.

I was suprised that Lydia would get out when the people in charge said that the time was up. She came jumping right out when the said "time". She did have a hard time waiting in line. She just wanted to go right to the front of the line and take her next turn. Luckily there wasn't much of a line and she only had to wait about 3 minutes in between turns.

They had a really a cool croc slide. Jake was the only one old enough to go on it. It was really huge and super cool!

One of the exibits was a bug house. They had different insects/bugs. Jake was very interested in this. He saw and touched a millipeed. The millipeed was black with bright orange legs. They also had a HUGE cockroach and some ant farms that were in water. It was neat.

The younger kids were not as into the expo as Jake was so after about 40 minutes we headed to the wading pool. Lydia hitched a ride on Uncle Dan. (I think he has a crush on her).

Our kids were suited up and ready to go. They love this water park/wading pool. I think that Katie just likes to show off how cute she looks in her swim suit. We had an argument about which suit she would wear. She wanted to wear the pink and white striped one with ruffles but I insisted on the bright one. She is easy to spot in a large group of kids. We learned our lesson last time. I had a really hard time watching all three of them by myself.

As usual Katie and Andrew were side by side having lots of fun. The water was really cool and felt great on such a hot day. I even waded in.

Lydia mostly enjoys the freedom of being in charge of herself. She can wander where ever she wants as long as I can still see her. She loves to go up and over these cute little bridges.

Lydia wasn't quite sure if she wanted to get wet. She gave in as it heated up and enjoyed the cool water very much.

After a good swim we headed out for some lunch. We ended up at Granato's Italian Deli. Aaron and I shared a roastbeef sandwich on soft ciabatta bread. The bread is always super yummy. Jake, Katie and Lydia shared a meatball sandwich. Andrew ended up with his own meatball sandwich. It was major. Here are a few shots of him trying to decided how to attack it.

As the afternoon wore on our little house got hotter and hotter. The swamp cooler was acting up so we decided to seek out inexpensive places of business that had cool air conditioning. The first stop in our progressive dinner was DQ. The kids had 2 for $2.22 cheese burgers and a cherry arctic rush.

Lydie thought that her burger was especially deliciouse.

Aaron and I had take out chips and salsa from Chili's. Yum. By the time we got home at 8:30 things had cooled off some. Aaron got on the roof and cleared out some of the backed up hoses on the cooler and things are working fine now. We close with an extra special redition of Row, Row, Row Your Boat. Enjoy.

The photos of Andrew and his sandwich are amazing. I'll bet his Dad helped him eat it all gone.
