A Wonderful Warm Weekend

When we last left you we were headed to Bubby's to begin our Easter break. We arrived at about 9:45. Bubby and Poppy were waiting with hot quesadillas for Jake and a warm bath for Lydia. She was covered in slurpie and other traveling treats. We visited for a while and then went to bed. Bubby and Poppy had to catch an early flight to Texas to visit Booty and Laurie. They left before we were awake. Katie was very concerned that Bubby was not there because she wanted to have hot chocolate. We later realized that we don't always need Bubby to have hot chocolate (sorry Bub) but, we would much rather have her there. We played doll house for a while in the morning, while everyone got ready and had a yummy breakfast of ham, good toast and hot chocolate.

We arrived in St. George just in time for my 10:30 hair appointment. Stacia took good care of me, as usual. I was feeling pretty sassy leaving the salon. As we were leaving, Auntie Nel called and said Jon and Jolynn were at the Art's Festival and wanted to see us. We met Grandma Marsha there and visited with lots of Family. I left my camera in the car so I will just tell you who we saw...Everyone! We were lucky enough to visit with Jon, Jolynn and Family, Ruskin, Ashley and Rowan, Aunt B, Uncle Jim and Eric, Jodie, Kyle and kids, Jennie, Jason and kids and lots of friends from our old ward. My old boss Carolyn Washburn also joined us. We are always happy to spend time with her. She is truely an important part of our family. The kids had a wonderful time in the warm sun playing with all of their cousins. St. George has put in some really nice features in the area where the old library was located. There are lots of water fountains, wading pools etc.

We spent Friday evening with the Wells family. Aaron's whole family was there minus his older brother Riley and family who are preparing to move to a new house in the Salt Lake area. We had lots of fun eating, visiting and playing games.

In the morning, Aaron and I ventured out early to Target to find Easter baskets fo the kids. I had been unsuccessful in Salt Lake. We chose some lovely plush baskets that the kids really seemed to enjoy. Jake and a turtle, Katie and cute white bunny and Lydia a fuzzy yellow duck. We got good use out of them as the weeked progressed.

We hurried to the Vernon Worthen Park for the annual Easter Egg Hunt. The kids all dispursed to their age groups. We were glad to have Grandma there to help so that everyone could have adult supervision . Jake picked up an egg with a prize ticket in it and he and Aaron waited patiently in line for his major award. It turned out to be a pair of plastic binoculars that broke about two minutes later. Poor Jake.
Katie was especially excited to pick up candy and put it in her cute bunny basket. She did very well and collected more mini packages of Nerds then we could ever eat.




I shot this picture on the way to the hunt. St. George was in all it's spring time gory. Every blossom was out . I thought that the pretty yellow blossoms were a perfect reflection of our lovely weekend only to be out done by the endless" pop corn popping on the apricot trees."

This is a handsome shot of our eager hunters. Lydia's new picture pose is a crouch. We can't seem to talk her into standing up if she knows we are taking her picture.
On Saturday night Aaron and I went to dinner with our good friends Teri and Justin Leavitt. We went to the Texas Roadhouse BBQ. Aaron had a coupon for 25 percent off of our entire bill. He indulged in a 16 oz ribeye, ceasar salad, baked potato and hot rolls with honey butter. He ate every bite and enjoyed it all. I had a ground steak with mushrooms onions and swiss cheese. It was also really good. After dinner we parted ways. Teri and Justin went home to take care of their two cute kids and we went back to Grandma and Grandpa's house to help get our kids to bed, before we went to a late movie. I chose "27 Dresses" for our viewing pleasure. It was funny and I enjoyed it. I heard Aaron laugh a few times so I know that he wasn't totally miserable.
Sunday was of course Easter. We got everyone dressed and to church by 9:00. I think that Grandma Wells was proud to have her grandchildren at church with her even though they were not very well behaved. We lasted only through Sacrament meeting and then decided to embark on an Easter Sunday Photo shoot. We were somewhat successful. This is the trio in front of the fountain at the St. George Temple. They also posed for individual glamour shots.

We had a really hard time keeping Lydia's attention througout the shoot. She was more interested in her bare belly. The big kids kept laughing at her, which only encouraged her more.

After the temple we went back to the couryard near the new library. We enjoyed the fountains so much, I wanted to get some pictures of the kids playing and wading on this beautiful day.

We had a pretty relaxing afternoon. We had a quick Easter Egg Hunt with our Salter cousins and enjoyed their company through the early afternoon. Marsha made a delicious dinner of roast, mashed potatoes and asparagus. It was all very good. All weekend long Lydie rarely left Grandma's side. She was the best helper when loading and unloading the dishwasher (and eating oreo cookies). She spent lots of time under Grandma's feet.
On Monday we finished up a few last minute errands. I had an eye appointment and went shopping with Carolyn for a little while. We headed back towards the North, but not without a quick stop at the Cedar City Pizza Factory. We all enjoyed the Monday local special. We are home now and glad to be here. Grandpa Wells is staying with us for a few days while he attends a training conference. Stay tuned for more Wells Family Fun.
